We've made it through the first night and all in all it went really well. The main thing that's making it all a bit tough is the fact that all three of are sick to differing degrees. Dani is getting over her stuff from a week ago, mine is just starting to kick in (chest congestion and cough--nothing that my good friends Dayquil and Nyquil can't fix) and Norah seems to be suffering from some heavy chest congestion (which, for the record, we noticed when we first visited her at Picasso). Since we've been giving Norah baby cold medicine, she's pretty much on an every-two-hour nap schedule. We had to wake her up around 7:00 last night to feed her and to make sure that she didn't get it in her head to wake up at 3:00am ready to face the day. But, she slept through the entire night. In fact, we had to wake her up this morning at 6:00 to feed her. And of course, now, at 8:30am, she's asleep again; having fell asleep at breakfast.
Anyway, yesterday was our Giving & Receiving ceremony (G&R), and it was definitely nothing to stress over. I pictured some heavy, intense interrogation--"Why do you want to take this baby?" and the like--but it was definitely just a have-a-seat, print-your-name and sign-your-name kind of affair.
Here's the main counter at the government building that handled Marriage Registration and Adoption Ceremonies. Very efficient.
Signing the documents (it really did kind of feel like buying a house, what with all the signing, only everything was in Vietnamese--a little unnerving)

Two new happy families! This is the other family working through CHI from North Carolina and their handsome new son.
Fun with blocks. She was completely fascinated by stacking them up and breaking them back down. It's hard to conceive that she has had little to no contact with toys for her entire life. At this point, she just stares at the toys like they're aliens.

Congrats on officially becoming a family!!!!! I really enjoyed reading your last post earlier, but didn't get a chance to comment b/c my crazy little man was all over my lap. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. I'm loving it! Norah is a little doll!!!!
I love all the pics. She is beautiful. You are making me miss all the time we had in Vietnam when we first got Lennah. Cherish all these moments.
